LRGP (Process Engineering and Reaction Lab) is a CNRS/University of Lorraine joint research unit (no. 7274). LRGP creates the scientific and technical knowledge required to design, study, operate, and improve complex physico-chemical and biological energy and matter transformation processes. The lab draws on traditional chemical engineering, kinetics, thermodynamics, physical chemistry, and biology know-how to investigate the complex interactions and interdependencies between processes at different time and space scales. For example, the lab looks at interactions and interdependencies from the nano- and micro-scales to gain insights into local phenomena while simultaneously using basic physics, quantum chemistry, and biology approaches and studies large systems at scales from reactor and process to plant or local community.
