GAMMA Tech develops solid, hollow or mesoporous silica microspheres using a sol-gel process.
The versatility of this chemical process allows the microspheres to be shaped by varying their size, density and porosity properties. In addition, silica can now be functionalised by incorporating mineral or organic nanoparticles during the formulation stage.
GAMMA Tech targets formulators of paints and coatings, cosmetics and compounds. In addition to reducing weight, microspheres can also lighten, mechanically reinforce or improve the optical properties of matrices (TiO2 substitution, pigment protection).
GAMMA Tech's ambition is to industrialise this technology in 2026 to serve its first customers.
