Activité
The Federation’s research activities are at the core of societal pre-occupations concerning water. This very common element is vital for life and also economic and social development. What is currently at stake around water resources require both research taking into account the characteristics and challenges specific to each territory and imply various environmental dynamics on different space-time scales.
The research Federation water, environment and territories, on the Clermont Auvergne site aims to provide structure and dynamise the scientific community working on the water theme, and the economic and social ecosystems linked to it, with cross-disciplinary synergism.
Its mission is to federate all 29 research units of the Clermont Auvergne site working on water and involve them in a collaborative paradigm within its structure.
Compétences & savoir-faire
Research, observations, analyses, hydro-socio-biogeochemical cycle, atmosphere-surface water-underground water-territories continuum, effluents, governing, perception, uses of water, modeling
Produits, technologies & services
The research project is structured in 5 axes: 3 thematic axes (Characterisation of water resources for durable management; uses and representation of water; global changes in the atmosphere/surface water/underground water continuum) and 2 cross-disciplinary axes coupling environmental sciences with humanities and health. (Data acquisition, pooling and sharing, support of regional politics and to science-social science interrelation.)
The research Federation water, environment and territories, is specific its association of environmental science, engineering science and health with humanities in a cross-disciplinary approach. One original aspect of the work conducted on the Clermont Auvergne site, is to consider the entire hydro-scio-biogeochemical water cycle, throughout the continuum comprising the atmosphere-surface water-underground water and territories.
