ESRF, the European Synchrotron, is an international research infrastructure based in Grenoble and the world’s first high-energy fourth-generation synchrotron. Its X-rays enable companies to analyse and understand materials at levels of detail beyond the reach of conventional laboratory techniques. ESRF brings state-of-the-art facilities and scientific expertise to industrial R&D, innovation and process optimisation.

A true “supermicroscope”, ESRF makes it possible to observe materials in 3D, in real time and under conditions close to real-world operation. Our teams work with companies to understand mechanisms, identify failures, optimise materials and processes, and address complex R&D challenges.
