The scientific strategy is based on the continuum and the balance between academic research of international standard and strong partnership research geared towards innovation.
For this, CIRIMAT develops 4 perennial Scientific Axes:
- Materials science and engineering,
- Nanomaterials, nanostructured materials,
- Coatings and deposition processes,
- Aging and durability of materials.
CIRIMAT has numerous development and shaping processes on a laboratory scale (powders, layers and coatings, masses) but also equipment adapted to the production of prototypes or development on a pilot scale, thus promoting technology transfer operations towards the industrial environment. Many facilities allow microstructural, structural and textural characterizations but also the evaluation of physical and mechanical properties. CIRIMAT is also involved in simulation/modeling at different scales.
Compétences & savoir-faire
CIRIMAT conducts multidisciplinary research on the major families of materials (metals, alloys, ceramics, polymers, composites, multi-materials) in the form of powders, thin films, coatings, solid parts, from their design to their behavior in service.
This research, fundamental and applied, falls within the framework of issues with a strong industrial and societal impact: Aeronautics (aircraft and engines), Space, Energy (production, conversion and storage), Electronics, Health, Environment, Building.
